The Swedish Grand Prix dressage stallion Briar has been accepted for the KWPN studbook.

Briar fulfilled the veterinary requirements and his collection of offspring was of a good enough quality for Stallion Inspection Committee. Briar has been accepted on the same basis such as "foreign" stallions Darco, Quidam de Revel, Narcos II and Biotop.

Briar 899, the three times Olympian and 7 times World Cup finalist, who competed at every major championship for ten consecutive years, will be moving to stand with The Stallion Company in the UK.

This legend of the sport and breeding, has served the Swedish market for so long, and with the growing stature of dressage riding and breeding in the UK, owner and breeder of Briar, Hans-Yngve Goransson feels that the time has come for him to move to this exciting and fresh breeding country.

"Briar already has offspring in the UK and with this move the breeders will have easier access to his semen, and I´m sure that we will see even greater strides in UK breeding."

The Stallion Company already owns such names as Kannan, Parco, Odermus R, Clinton II, Royaldik and Grafenstolz, and holds a large part of the jumping and eventing markets in the UK.

Owner of The Stallion Company, Ken Rehill, says
"This is a huge opportunity for us and for UK breeders, to have such a legend of the sport in the country. We´ve never had a dressage stallion of this quality or world ranking in this country, he will be a big hit and there is already a lot of excitement about his arrival. That Briar is proven at the highest levels in the sport and in breeding is a first for the UK."

Briar´s breeding fee will be 1200 € and the conditions are now live foal guarantee, fresh/chilled semen is available from The Stallion Company´s UK centre, and can be shipped throughout Europe, whilst the frozen semen is available through The Stallion Company´s and Dalhem Farm´s agents in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

Briar was described by the legendary Kyra Kyrklund as the horse she would "give her soul for".
